CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel for VW R32 Engines with DQ500 – 10-Bolt, Standard Cover Connection

The PTB Racing CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel was specifically developed for high-performance applications using VW R32 engines with the DQ500 DSG transmission. This 10-bolt version is designed for use with the standard cover connection.

Unlike reworked or modified dual-mass flywheels, the PTB Racing CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel is a completely new, purpose-developed component. Increased damping force, reduced weight and optimized mass distribution combine high-performance capability with effective torsional vibration damping and reduced transmission noise.

At approximately 19.8 lbs/9 kg, the flywheel is lighter than the standard flywheel while retaining the advantages of a dual-mass system. Normal street driving remains possible, even with significantly increased vehicle performance.

The system is already in use in vehicles producing up to 1,420 hp.

CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel for VW R32 with DQ500

The PTB Racing CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel combines torsional vibration damping, drivability and increased continuous-load capability in a design developed specifically for high-performance DQ500 applications.

Its increased damping force reduces the transfer of torsional vibrations from the engine into the transmission. This helps reduce vibration excitation and the resulting transmission noise that can become significantly more noticeable with a rigid single-mass flywheel.

The system is suitable for high-performance street cars as well as track, drag racing and motorsport applications.

Vehicles producing up to 1,420 hp are already running this CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel. The 1,420 hp figure represents a proven real-world application and is not a general power rating or guarantee for every vehicle configuration. Actual loads depend on torque, engine setup, drivetrain configuration and operating conditions.

Completely New PTB Racing Development

The PTB Racing CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel is manufactured entirely from new components. No existing or used dual-mass flywheels are modified or reworked.

The system was developed specifically for high-performance applications and represents a dedicated PTB Racing technical solution for applications requiring increased continuous-load capability while retaining effective torsional vibration damping.

A patent application has been filed for the PTB Racing dual-mass flywheel technology.

Protected Connection for the Standard Cover

This product version is designed for use with the standard cover connection.

The connection between the CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel and the cover uses a PTB Racing-developed positive-locking interface. Torque is transmitted through the spline connection, while the drive adapter is additionally secured with a retaining pin.

This PTB Racing-developed connection design is protected.

For applications requiring a significantly larger spline connection, a separate version with the PTB Racing Upgrade Cover is available.

Standard or Upgrade Bolts with Precision Shoulder

The standard version uses the intended conventional bolted connection.

For highly loaded applications, PTB Racing Upgrade Bolts with a precision shoulder are available. The precision shoulder provides defined positioning within the mounting holes and prevents relative movement caused by clearance between the bolt and bore.

This provides more precise positioning of the connection for applications subject to increased mechanical loads.

Diamond Friction Washer

A diamond friction washer is always included with the system.

The diamond friction washer increases friction within the bolted joint and supports reliable load transfer through the connection.

Approx. 19.8 lbs./9 kg – Reduced Weight and Optimized Mass Distribution

The PTB Racing CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel weighs approximately 19.8 lbs/9 kg, making it lighter than the standard flywheel.

Weight alone, however, is not the only factor affecting rotational behavior. The mass distribution has also been optimized, with a greater proportion of the rotating mass positioned closer to the center of rotation.

This reduces the mass moment of inertia while retaining the torsional vibration damping characteristics of the dual-mass flywheel system.

The result combines reduced rotating mass and optimized inertia with the damping characteristics required for a high-performance street and motorsport drivetrain.

Increased Damping Force and Reduced Transmission Noise

Increased damping force is a key characteristic of the PTB Racing CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel.

Engine torsional vibrations are damped before being transferred into the DQ500 transmission. This helps reduce transmission noise compared with a rigid single-mass flywheel setup.

The combination of increased damping force, torsional vibration damping and increased continuous-load capability allows the system to be used in high-performance vehicles while retaining normal drivability for street use.

This makes the CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel particularly suitable for vehicles where high performance and a usable drivetrain are both important.

Noise and Usage Information

The CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel is specifically designed to reduce torsional vibrations and the resulting transmission noise.

Depending on engine calibration, idle speed, transmission software and the overall vehicle configuration, additional mechanical or transmission noises may still occur. Complete elimination of drivetrain noise cannot be guaranteed in high-performance applications.

Development, Quality and Manufacturing

The CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel is a dedicated PTB Racing development and is manufactured from new components. It is not a reworked dual-mass flywheel or an assembly based on modified used components.

The complete flywheel system is precision manufactured and fine-balanced for smooth operation.
