The PTB Racing CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel is developed for high-performance applications using VW and Audi TFSI engines with the DQ381 DSG transmission and 8-bolt crankshaft connection.

This version is designed for use with the standard DQ381 cover and spline connection. It combines increased continuous-load capability with effective torsional vibration damping, reduced rotating mass and optimized mass distribution.

The CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel is a complete PTB Racing development manufactured from new components. It is not a modified or reworked dual-mass flywheel. The system has already been used successfully in vehicles producing up to 1,420 hp.

CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel for VW / Audi DQ381 Applications

The PTB Racing CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel combines torsional vibration damping, drivability and increased continuous-load capability in a system developed specifically for high-performance DQ381 applications.

Increased damping force reduces the transmission of engine torsional vibrations into the DSG transmission. This helps reduce drivetrain excitation and transmission noise compared with a rigid single-mass flywheel setup while retaining the load capability required for high-performance street, track, drag racing and motorsport applications.

Designed for the Standard DQ381 Cover

This version is designed for use with the standard DQ381 cover and its existing spline connection.

It is the appropriate version for applications where the PTB Racing Upgrade Cover with larger spline connection is not required.

For applications with particularly high drivetrain loads, the CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel is also available separately in a version for the PTB Racing Upgrade Cover.

Completely New PTB Racing Development

The CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel is developed specifically by PTB Racing for high-performance drivetrain applications and manufactured entirely from new components.

No used or reworked dual-mass flywheel is used as the basis of the system. Development focuses on increased continuous-load capability, controlled torsional vibration damping, precise component matching and optimized rotating mass.

A patent application has been filed for the PTB Racing dual-mass flywheel technology.

Available Bolt Configurations

Two bolt configurations are available:

Standard Bolts
Designed for the standard bolted connection and suitable for applications where the additional positive positioning of the Torque-Lock version is not required.

PTB Racing Torque-Lock Bolts with Precision Shoulder
Designed for highly loaded applications. The precision shoulder provides defined positioning within the mounting holes and reduces relative movement resulting from clearance between the bolt and bore.

Diamond Friction Washer

A diamond friction washer is included with every system. It is installed at the crankshaft-to-flywheel interface and supports a secure frictional connection under increased drivetrain loads.

The PTB Racing CNC Sport Dual-Mass Flywheel weighs approximately 9 kg / 19.8 lbs and is lighter than the standard flywheel.

The mass distribution is optimized so that a greater proportion of the rotating mass is positioned closer to the center of rotation. This reduces the mass moment of inertia while retaining the torsional vibration damping characteristics of a dual-mass flywheel.

All rotating components are precision balanced.

Transmission type and 8-bolt crankshaft connection must be verified before ordering, as drivetrain configurations can vary by model, production year and market.

Noise and Usage Information

The dual-mass design reduces the transmission of torsional vibrations into the DSG transmission and helps reduce transmission noise compared with a rigid single-mass flywheel conversion.

Depending on engine calibration, idle characteristics, transmission condition and vehicle configuration, additional mechanical or transmission noise may still occur. Complete elimination of drivetrain noise cannot be guaranteed.
